About this reel

The Shimano 24 Vanford 2500SHG is a masterclass in lightweight design and rapid response, making it an exceptional choice for New Zealand's light saltwater and freshwater fisheries. Constructed with Shimano's advanced MagnumLite (MGL) rotor and a robust Ci4+ body, this reel offers near-weightless rotation for working soft baits in the wash for Snapper or targeting trophy Trout in the backcountry. Its 2500 size and high-gear retrieve provide the perfect balance of finesse and speed when every twitch of the lure counts.

MagnumLite (MGL) Rotor – Delivers exceptionally light start-up inertia, allowing for precise control and immediate response when working soft plastics or lures.
Ci4+ Body Construction – Drastically reduces overall reel weight to a mere 175g while maintaining the rigid strength required to battle hard-fighting Snapper and Trout.
HAGANE Gear – Provides unparalleled durability and smoothness, ensuring the reel withstands the harsh realities of New Zealand's coastal environments.
High Gear (HG) Ratio – Features a 5.8:1 ratio that retrieves 86cm of line per crank, perfect for quickly picking up slack line during aggressive softbaiting sessions.
SilentDrive Technology – Eliminates microscopic play and vibration throughout the reel for a flawlessly silent and smooth winding experience under load.
X-Protect Water Resistance – Shields critical internal components from saltwater intrusion, drastically extending the reel's lifespan for regular surf and boat anglers.
